How It Works

From booking to your vaccination record

1

Book

Tell us your destination country. We'll prepare the tests and vaccines we offer for that country. Yellow fever vaccine is not available here.

2

Exam & Vaccinate

Consultation with Dr. Yonga, and an exam if your country accepts a certificate from a local doctor. Get the vaccines you need with a dated record.

3

Certificate

Receive your vaccination records, and a medical certificate for countries that accept one from a local doctor (China, Spain, Greece, South Africa). It cannot be used for the US, Canada or Australia, which need their own appointed panel physicians. The UK TB test (for stays of 6 months or more) must be done at a Home Office-approved clinic. We are not a Wafid (GAMCA) centre; see our Saudi Arabia page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an immigration medical exam?

An immigration medical exam is a mandatory health screening required by many countries as part of the visa or immigration process. It includes a physical examination, blood tests, and vaccinations to ensure you meet the health requirements of your destination country. Some countries, including the US, Canada, Australia and the UK, only accept an exam by a doctor or clinic they have appointed.

Which countries do you cover?

We issue visa medical certificates for countries that accept one from a registered doctor in Kenya: China, Spain, Greece and South Africa. We do not do the official immigration medical for the United States, Canada, Australia or the UK. Those countries only accept an exam by a doctor or clinic they have appointed, and CA Medlynks is not one of them. For those, our USA, Canada, Australia and UK pages explain who does the exam and how we can help you prepare. We are not a Wafid (GAMCA) centre; see our Saudi Arabia page.

How long does the process take?

The medical exam and vaccinations are typically completed in one visit. Most lab results are ready within 24–48 hours. The TB blood test (IGRA) is sent out and takes longer. How long the medical certificate takes depends on the country and on whether it needs KMPDC attestation. See our China, Spain and Greece pages for the steps for each country.

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring your passport, any previous vaccination records, and a copy of your visa application or embassy letter (if applicable). Our team will advise you on specific requirements when you book.

Will the vaccines I need be available?

When you book, we check stock for the vaccines you need and order any that are not in stock. This includes Hepatitis A+B (TWINRIX), Typhoid, Rabies, Meningitis ACWY, Tetanus, Tdap+Polio, Pneumococcal (PREVENAR 13), MMR, Influenza, Varicella, and HPV. We tell you before your visit if a vaccine cannot be ready in time.

What is the consultation fee?

The consultation fee is KES 10,000 and is charged in addition to any vaccination or test fees. This covers the medical examination and certificate preparation by Dr. Yonga.

How does the Travel Vaccine Advisor work?

The Travel Vaccine Advisor is a free online tool. Enter your trip, age and vaccination history to see which vaccines may apply. It covers 19 countries and is for guidance only. It does not replace a consultation.

How far in advance should I book my travel health appointment?

We recommend booking your consultation at least 4-6 weeks before your departure date. Some vaccines require multiple doses given over several weeks, and some need time to provide full protection. For urgent travel, contact us.

How much is the meningitis vaccine in Kenya?

The meningococcal (ACWY) vaccine at CA Medlynks costs KES 9,000. It is required for Hajj/Umrah pilgrims and recommended for travel to the African meningitis belt. For Hajj and Umrah, Saudi Arabia accepts a conjugate ACWY vaccine given within the last 5 years and at least 10 days before arrival. The vaccine we use (Nimenrix) is a conjugate vaccine.

How much is the hepatitis B vaccine in Kenya?

The hepatitis B vaccine at CA Medlynks costs KES 3,000 per dose. A full course is 3 doses given over 6 months (0, 1, and 6 months). We also offer an accelerated schedule for urgent travellers. Contact us for details.
