Going to Australia from Kenya: the health exam and your vaccines

Your visa health examination is done by a Home Affairs panel clinic, and we are not one. Before you move, Dr. Paul Yonga, Consultant Infectiologist, reviews your vaccination records and gives the vaccines you are missing, each written down with its date.

How the Australian visa health examination works

CA Medlynks and Dr. Paul Yonga are not Department of Home Affairs panel physicians. We cannot do your visa health examination or submit it through eMedical, and an exam done here would not be accepted.

  1. You get a HAP IDIf the Department of Home Affairs needs health examinations from you, it gives you a list of the exams and an identifier called a HAP ID. You can also get one before applying by completing My Health Declarations online.
  2. You book a panel physicianOutside Australia, Home Affairs says you must be examined by one of its approved panel physicians or clinics. You need your HAP ID to book.
  3. The clinic sends the resultsExams arranged upfront are completed in Home Affairs' eMedical system by the panel clinic.

When we checked the Home Affairs list for Kenya on 2026-10-01, it showed two clinics, both in Nairobi: the IOM Migration Health Assessment Centre and The Aga Khan University Hospital (Family Medicine). Search the official list yourself before you book.

Yellow fever and the trip itself

Kenya is on Australia's list of yellow fever declared places. If you are 1 year or older and arrive in Australia within 6 days of staying overnight or longer in Kenya, you may be asked at the border for a yellow fever certificate (the yellow card). The certificate becomes valid 10 days after the vaccine, so get it at least 10 days before you fly. CA Medlynks does not offer yellow fever vaccination. Get it at a designated yellow fever vaccination centre.

Dr. Yonga can review your other vaccines, answer health questions about the move, and give any vaccines you are missing with a dated record.

No. Outside Australia, Home Affairs says you must be examined by one of its approved panel physicians or clinics. CA Medlynks and Dr. Yonga are not on that list, so an exam done here would not be accepted.

What is a HAP ID?

It is the identifier Home Affairs gives you when it needs health examinations from you. You need it to book with a panel clinic.

Do I need a yellow fever certificate to enter Australia from Kenya?

Kenya is on Australia's list of yellow fever declared places. If you are 1 year or older and arrive within 6 days of staying overnight or longer in Kenya, you may be asked for the certificate at the border.

How early should I get the yellow fever vaccine?

At least 10 days before you arrive. The certificate becomes valid 10 days after the vaccine and then lasts for life. CA Medlynks does not offer yellow fever vaccination. Get it at a designated yellow fever vaccination centre.

Can I use a TB blood test from CA Medlynks for my visa?

No. The panel clinic does the tests your visa health examination needs. A test here is only for your own information.
