UK Travel Vaccines
for Kenyan Travelers
No mandatory immigration medical exam for most UK visas. Typhoid, hepatitis B, influenza and other vaccines on our price list are available in Nairobi. We do not offer yellow fever vaccine.
UK Entry Health Requirements for Kenyan Travelers
The UK does not require a formal immigration medical examination for most visa categories, including visitor visas, student visas, and skilled worker visas. However, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) does require applicants from certain countries, including Kenya, to provide a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate if they are coming to the UK for 6 months or more.
TB Certificate for UK Visa Applications (Stays of 6 Months or More)
- Kenya is on the UK's list of countries from which applicants must obtain a TB test certificate
- Required for student visas, work visas, and family visas for stays of 6 months or more
- The TB test must be done at a clinic approved by the UK Home Office. In Kenya, the Home Office list names IOM in Gigiri, Nairobi. CA Medlynks is not an approved clinic and cannot issue a UK visa TB certificate
- The test screens for active pulmonary tuberculosis
- Certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of your chest X-ray
Note: The TB test requirement applies to the applicant's country of residence, not nationality. If you have been residing in Kenya for 6 months or more before applying, a TB certificate will be required for long-term UK visa applications.
Recommended Travel Vaccines for the UK
No vaccine is mandatory for entry into the UK. These are the vaccines we often discuss before a move. Which ones you need is decided at your consultation.
How It Works
Book Your Pre-Travel Consultation
WhatsApp or call us. Tell us your travel dates, visa type, and any health history.
Vaccines
Receive the vaccines you choose, with a dated record. If your visa needs a TB test, book it with the Home Office-approved clinic. We cannot do it.
Receive Certificates & Records
Collect your vaccination records. The TB certificate for your UK visa comes from the Home Office-approved clinic, not from CA Medlynks. CA Medlynks does not offer yellow fever vaccination. If your route needs it, get it at a designated yellow fever vaccination centre.
UK travel health: questions people ask us
Do I need a medical exam for a UK visa? +
Most UK visa categories (visitor, student, work) do not require a formal medical examination from a UK panel physician. However, applicants from Kenya who are coming to the UK for 6 months or more must provide a tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from a UKVI-approved clinic as part of their visa application. In Kenya, the Home Office list names IOM in Gigiri, Nairobi. CA Medlynks is not an approved clinic.
Is a TB test the same as a TB vaccination? +
No. A TB test checks whether you currently have active tuberculosis. It is a diagnostic test, not a vaccination. For a UK visa, the test is a chest X-ray at a clinic approved by the UK Home Office, and you may also be asked for a sputum sample if the X-ray result is not clear. Having had the BCG vaccine does not replace the test.
What is the Yellow Fever certificate and do I need it for the UK? +
The Yellow Card (International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis, ICVP) records your yellow fever vaccination. The UK does not ask for it. Airlines or transit countries may ask for it if your route passes through a country with yellow fever risk, and Kenya asks for it when you return from one. CA Medlynks does not offer yellow fever vaccination. Get it at a designated yellow fever vaccination centre.
Are travel vaccines required for the UK? +
No travel vaccine is mandatory for entry into the UK for Kenyan passport holders. Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and, for winter travel, Influenza are worth discussing. Which ones you need is decided at a pre-travel consultation, based on your health and plans.
